Sally-Anne & Matthew Armitage

Sally-Anne

MA Psych, MBACP (Accred), BA (Hons), PG. Dip Sup, Dip. Couns, P.G.C.E

Sally prides herself in being authentic in all areas of her life and work, in being a down to earth, authentic person who walks wholeheartedly alongside her clients. Adapting therapy to suit client needs is Sally's passion, including using creative approaches to support clients who feel unable to speak in detail about their issues.

Sally has provided thousands of hours of psychotherapy, working with clients experiencing anxiety (including social anxiety), depression, stress, loss and bereavement, health issues, family issues, betrayal, panic attacks, trauma and PTSD, abuse, low self-esteem and low mood as well as many other difficulties clients may face.

As well as seeing private clients, Sally works in partnership with the Police Federation, seeing clients who work for the police force. She is therefore experienced in working with people who have been impacted by trauma, including clients who feel unable to move forward as a result of a traumatic experience.

With a wealth of experience teaching, lecturing in and researching counselling, Sally is a highly qualified, committed and passionate therapist.

Matthew

BA (Hons) DipHE Dip Couns MBACP

Matt is a welcoming and non-judgemental person and this is evident in all areas of his life and work. His naturally calm, accepting and caring approach offers clients a highly supported therapeutic space.

For 15 years Matt has worked with the NHS, much of this for Leeds and York Primary Foundation Trust - an NHS body that helps people with severe and enduring mental health conditions.

Having significant first hand experience of working in several mental health services, Matt developed a keen interest in mental health and a passion to help others.

Qualifying as a counsellor enabled him to begin offering therapy himself informed by this wealth of experience.

What is therapy?

Therapy at Next Chapter is primarily Person Centred, which means we will seek to develop an authentic relationship with clients. We will seek to see your world through your eyes as much as possible.

Giving you space to talk with total honesty about your life, in a space free from judgement and bias, often means things start to feel clearer and less overwhelming.

Sally and Matt are trained to listen intently and are skilled in helping clients to identify their own inner and outer resources to help them find the right way forward.

Other elements can be added into the work as necessary. This may include techniques which can help with trauma, elements of neurolinguistic programming and psycho education where necessary to complement the therapy.

Fees & availability

Sessions with Sally-Anne incur a £60 fee.

Sessions with Matthew incur a £50 fee (Limited reduced fee spaces are available)

Clients have an average of 10-15 sessions, though this can vary dramatically depending on the nature of the work and goals of therapy. Many people notice positive changes in their state of mind within the first 5 sessions.

Meetings can be arranged around your commitments as much as possible and you do not need to agree to the same time each week. There is no pressure to book further sessions after attending the first one.

Our location

Sally and Matt have an office in Morley, Leeds which has been specifically built for counselling. It is therefore a calm, quiet and private space.

The office is 10 minute walk from both Morley train station and Morley town centre.

There is a toilet next to the counselling room and drinking water is provided.

The counselling room is located down a sloped driveway. There is a door threshold to enter the room, which may cause a problem for clients using wheelchairs. Please contact us for more details about accessibility.

Working remotely

Sally and Matt are qualified and experienced in working remotely with clients across the United Kingdom. Work can be carried out online via Zoom, which enables clients to see their therapist, or there is also the option of telephone sessions.

Choosing to work remotely can be an incredibly convenient option for busy people. It also enables clients across United Kingdom to access Next Chapter services.

We have found remote working highly effective and in our experience, it does not negatively impact on client outcomes.
